The Visual Nurse streamlines and standardizes ECG curricula for nursing professors and hospital-based educators. I worked tirelessly to create a database of high-quality ECG sample illustrations, a suite of instructional books, customizable instructor lecture presentation, and companion video course that rely upon high-yield informative visuals. With an estimated 65% of the U.S. identifying as visual learners, I’ve been fortunate enough to sell nearly 10,000 book copies so far in the nursing community, direct to consumer. Additionally, The Visual Nurse is transacting business to business with universities and hospitals to simplify the basic ECG teaching process and increase student and new hire success rates while decreasing remediation attempts needed for internal ECG examinations.
Hey there, I’m Tyler!
I’m a nurse in the cardiac stress lab.
While beginning my career as an exercise physiologist with an interest in collegiate strength and conditioning, I completed a graduate degree in exercise physiology which led to my first writing; a Master’s thesis that was accepted in the journal of Muscle & Nerve (you can read it here!). I then continued-on at the university level as an adjunct faculty member, lecturing and leading physical assessment labs including VO2 max testing and other measures of cardiorespiratory fitness.
During this time I developed an increasing interest in the medical field and completed a second-degree program in nursing. Combining my experiences as an exercise physiologist, lecturer, and bedside nurse, I now work as an RN in the cardiac stress lab reviewing 12-lead ECGs and assisting with interventions for patients during testing as needed. I launched The Visual Nurse in 2020.
In addition to the professional and academic content here, we release free weekly education for students and practicing professionals. This is accomplished through the blog page and social media platforms using the hashtag #FOAMED (free open access medical education).
